Autumn!
Index to Our Current Issue
is filled with all that makes Vermont autumn so special.
Vermont, could easily be designated the nation's capital of Autumn. There's no better place to celebrate the history, traditions and treasures of this magnificent season. We invite you to explore our pages, they're filled with celebrations of the season.
There is little we can tell you that has not already been said about autumn
in Vermont. Our renowned display of brilliant color--from yellow to amber
to blazing red--invites travellers to view
the spectacle. But fall foliage is not only an attraction for tourists. Those
of us who live here are often equally awestruck as we wind through a valley
or hike into the hills.
If you're among the many planning a visit to Vermont this fall you'll want to take a look at our Vermont Country Calendar. There you'll find more than 200 events that are taking place throughout our state through the middle of October. Events will be added regularly.
Want a list of Vermont's Top Ten Fall Events? Just Ask. We'll send it to you by email or U.S. Post, FREE!.
If you can't be here to see the fall colors, you can check it out online at VTWeb's Vermont Fall Foliage Page. A new image is loaded each day, so you can watch the progression as we move from green to glorious. Should you decide at the last minute to come for a visit and need a place to stay, check out their room availabilty chart. (Coming for a visit at this time of year without room reservations is not recommended.)
Of course fall is not complete without an Apple Orchard Excursion. Whether you want to pick your own right off the tree or simply grab a bushel or a peck of already picked fruit, area orchards are a great pace to spend time with the family. Once you have your apples, this issue's apple recipes will inspire you to use various varieties in new ways. You can also request Vermont Weathervane's Best Picks of the Season--a list of our favorite area orchards.
Just in time for harvest season is the new book, Cider. A guide to making and enjoying sweet and hard cider. It's worth a look!
