First Tracks at Stratton Mountain
Stratton Mountain gives new meaning to "first tracks," with sunrise snowcat ascents that lift skiers to the summit just as the four-state view begins to unfold beneath the day's first rays.
After savoring the scene, skiers and snowboarders launch into the day with a run or two to mid-mountain where they can stop for breakfast and still get a jump start on the day.
In the evening, Stratton hosts snowcat dinners at the mid-mountain restaurant with seatings for up to 10 people every half hour from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The sunrise and sunset snowcat tours are available by reservation only.
Additional evening activities have been added to the slate at Stratton Mountain this season, with lift served snow tubing under the lights and the new Bell Atlantic Luge Park where there's also special race series every Saturday from 5-6 p.m.
Bordercross returns every Friday night starting Dec. 19 on a permanent course in Stratton's new 3,000-foot snowboard park. The series culminates in a $5,000 Championship event set for March 28.
The snowboard park also features an authentic diner resurrected as a warming hut, that's surrounded by a triple-decker viewing area right at the top of the double-lit championship halfpipe now open for night riding.
For more information or to reserve a snowcat tour, call 1-800-STRATTON.
